Prescriptions

Ordering repeat prescriptions

The easiest ways to order repeat prescriptions are:

  • using your NHS account (through the NHS website or in the NHS App)

This account shows you all your repeat medicine and dosage and you can choose the ones you need.

You can also:

We do not take repeat prescription requests over the phone.

Please remember to order your repeat prescription in good time, it may be ordered up to 5 working days before its due date.

Collecting your prescription

Information:

You can usually collect your prescription 3 days after you have ordered it.

Dispensing service

The practice can dispense to any patient, who live more than one mile away from a pharmacy. For these patients, prescriptions issued at a surgery attendance will be dispensed while you wait.

If you consider that the ‘one mile rule’ applies to you and you would like your doctor to dispense for you, please download and complete our ‘Serious Difficulty’ application form for dispensing by doctors (PDF), and hand it in to reception.

We offer a home delivery service for patients in the Rock, Polzeath and Chapel Amble area, who are housebound and have difficulty collecting their repeat medication. Please contact the dispensary for further information.

You can also choose a pharmacy to collect your prescription from. We call this nominating a pharmacy.

You can change your nominated pharmacy at any time:

  • using the Klinik service
  • on the app or website where you order repeat prescriptions
  • at any pharmacy that accepts repeat prescriptions

Questions about your prescription

If you have questions about your medicine, your local pharmacists can answer these. They can also answer questions on medicines you can buy without a prescription.

The NHS website has information on how your medicine works, how and when to take it, possible side effects and answers to your common questions.
